Strategic focus areas
We have identified five equally essential focus areas that ensure successful AI implementation in the health care sector. These focus areas also contribute to forming the foundation- and the approach to how we work at RAIT.
-
AI validation and implementation
In RAIT, we believe that less complexity will ease the adaption of AI in health care. Therefore, we are aiming for a smoother, transparent, and more efficient processes when developing, validating and applying sustainable AI in radiology.
-
Innovative partnerships
The lack of AI competencies among clinicians also in radiology, poses a significant barrier to taking full advantage of the digital transformation and use of AI at hospitals. There is an urgent need of maturing the organization and for the clinicians to understand the impact of AI and to be able to critically questioning supplier’s products.
-
Sustainable AI
We see sustainable AI as utilized AI which is robust, quality- assured and trustworthy. Sustainable AI is a stepping stone to a sustainable radiological field, contributing to the best possible conditions for the radiologist, radiographer and patient both now and in the future.
-
IT-infrastructure
Today there is no data science research infrastructure for AI in medical imaging in Denmark, which makes accessing, structuring, sharing and storing a large amount of data difficult. We aspire to find an IT infrastructure solution to support the transformation to a data-driven culture within radiology in close collaboration with partners.

Competence Development
The lack of AI competencies among clinicians also in radiology, poses a significant barrier to taking full advantage of the digital transformation and use of AI at hospitals. There is an urgent need of maturing the organization and for the clinicians to understand the impact of AI and to be able to critically questioning supplier’s products.
RAIT is partly funded through the Danish National Investment Fund. The investment fund supports several projects using artificial intelligence in the public sector, and currently, RAIT has been allocated grants for two Signature Projects through the Danish finance agreements for 2021.
